10 Day Fast

Our 10 Day Refresh Consecration:

Welcome to the 10 Day refresh consecration. Consecration is not a word that is used in our everyday society, but it should be. Consecration deals with the separation of your heart, motives, and very life for the purposeful use of God. It is a time of surrender, reflection, removal of impurities, and rededication of your heart to God. A major part of consecration is fasting. A time to humble yourself before the Lord where you and I abstain from eating certain foods, certain times of the day, or eating as a whole in an effort to give focused attention to The Lord.

Please consult your doctor as to the type of fast you can medically engage in without any adverse affects or interruption of medication or treatment.

This document should serve as a guide to a successful consecration over the next 10 days of your life, but first, a few thoughts on fasting.

Fasting is an expectation:

Jesus, in His inaugural sermon on the mount began to give the disciples and those who heard Him a perspective change about numerous things. Along with instructions about persecution, enemies, identity, and prayer, He gives us some guidelines around fasting found in Matthew 6:16-18:

16 “Moreover, when you fast, do not be like the [a]hypocrites, with a sad countenance. For they disfigure their faces that they may appear to men to be fasting. Assuredly, I say to you, they have their reward. 17 But you, when you fast, anoint your head and wash your face, 18 so that you do not appear to men to be fasting, but to your Father who is in the secret place; and your Father who sees in secret will reward you [b]openly.

Jesus didn’t say, “If you pray”, however, he stated, “When you pray” indicating that it is an expectation that God has for our lives as followers of Jesus. We must have a lifestyle of prayer and fasting that surrenders our hearts, minds, and lives to Him on a regular basis.

  • Fasting gets YOU out of the way so that God can move.
  • Fasting sharpens your spiritual insight and sensitivity to The Voice of Holy Spirit.
  • Fasting gives you the opportunity to bless others.
  • Fasting changes YOU, not God. (Malachi 3:6)
  • Fasting Creates intimacy with God
  • Fasting is to be done in secret (don’t broadcast the fast with the motive of wanting to be “seen” or applauded by others)
  • Fasting is not just a time to shed body weight, but soul weight! (3 John 2)
  • Fasting should be filled with times of prayer, worship, and reading the Word of God.
  • Fasting is an opportunity for your worldly appetites to decrease, and your godly appetite to increase.

Our 10 Day Refresh Consecration:

The Focus: For God, by His Spirit, to reveal His plan in four key areas;

Our Life: Proverbs 4:23 – “Keep thy heart with all diligence; for out of it are the issues of life.”

The very basis of our existence is the correct functioning of our heart, both physically and spiritually. God wants all of us, not just a compartment of us.

Our Love: Luke 10:27 – “You must love the LORD your God with all your heart, all your soul, all your strength, and all your mind.’ And, ‘Love your neighbor as yourself.'”

God’s love should permeate each part of us and should be displayed outside of us. The Love relationship with God should flow out into our relationship with ourselves, our families, our relationships, our community, and the community at large.

Our Lane: Psalm 23

Every purposeful experience we will have will be as a direct result of us walking in the right pathways of life directed by our Father through His Spirit. Our hearts should be set and focused on the Lane in which God has called us to dominate. Your lane may be in one or several categories; The Church, Media, Government, Business, Education, Music, Entertainment.

Our Legacy: Genesis 18:19 AMPC – “For I have known (chosen, acknowledged) him [as My own], so that he may teach and command his children and the sons of his house after him to keep the way of the Lord and to do what is just and righteous, so that the Lord may bring Abraham what He has promised him.

We are to be building a legacy and a heritage of God confident offspring. We should be an example in word, thoughts, and deeds that are touchstones for the next generation to follow.

Ask the Holy Spirit to lead you in prayers for each of the previous areas of your life as a priest, prophet, pastor, and patriarch/matriarch of your family for 2019.

Get a Journal:

It will be good for you to capture the revelations that The Holy Spirit gives you in your time of reflection on the scriptures, illuminations of His instructions to you, and clarity He gives you in key areas. These will be a defining moment of the strength God is sending you in this time of concentration!

Get Ready to Dig In:

The key to an effective fast is to consume the word of God in areas where you would generally be eating natural food. So instead of eating breakfast for an hour, you’d spend an hour in prayer, reading the word, and worshipping God. If you are doing a full fast, ensure that you spend ample time in God’s Word during the day, i.e., breakfast, lunch, and dinner.

10 Day Refresh Consecration

6AM on October 14 – 6AM on October 24

Foundational Scripture on Fasting:

Isaiah 58:6-14

“Is this not the fast that I have chosen: To loose the bonds of wickedness, To undo the ]heavy burdens, To let the oppressed go free, And that you break every yoke? Is it not to share your bread with the hungry, And that you bring to your house the poor who are cast out; When you see the naked, that you cover him, And not hide yourself from your own flesh? Then your light shall break forth like the morning, Your healing shall spring forth speedily, And your righteousness shall go before you;The glory of the Lord shall be your rear guard. Then you shall call, and the Lord will answer; You shall cry, and He will say, ‘Here I am.’ “If you take away the yoke from your midst, The pointing of the finger, and speaking wickedness, If you extend your soul to the hungry And satisfy the afflicted soul, Then your light shall dawn in the darkness, And your [f]darkness shall be as the noonday. The Lord will guide you continually, And satisfy your soul in drought, And strengthen your bones; You shall be like a watered garden, And like a spring of water, whose waters do not fail. Those from among you Shall build the old waste places; You shall raise up the foundations of many generations; And you shall be called the Repairer of the Breach, The Restorer of [g]Streets to Dwell In. “If you turn away your foot from the Sabbath, From doing your pleasure on My holy day, And call the Sabbath a delight, The holy day of the Lord honorable, And shall honor Him, not doing your own ways, Nor finding your own pleasure, Nor speaking your own words, Then you shall delight yourself in the Lord; And I will cause you to ride on the high hills of the earth, And feed you with the heritage of Jacob your father. The mouth of the Lord has spoken.”

Our Promise Scripture for our FINALITY Fast!

Isaiah 43:18-21 NIV

‘Forget the former things; do not dwell on the past. See, I am doing a new thing! Now it springs up; do you not perceive it? I am making a way in the wilderness and streams in the wasteland. The wild animals honor me,  the jackals and the owls, because I provide water in the wilderness and streams in the wasteland, to give drink to my people, my chosen, the people I formed for myself that they may proclaim my praise.’

On this fast, God promised that there would be a separation of the old and the new! This is a time where the old man will be completely buried, and the new man arises (2 Corinthians 5:17-21). This is where your old habits, hangups, attitudes, strongholds, fears, worries, doubts, and everything that keeps you from excelling in your walk with God will be severed and destroyed FINALLY. This is the pathway into the “new things” that God has for you! Be prepared for a fight, because the enemy wants to hold on to you, and will attempt to distract you, but it is God’s Grace that will help you in weakness! This is the race to the Finish! God is doing a NEW THING!

Daily Prayer Scriptures and Meditation:

We will be consuming the book of John on our consecration. John has 21 chapters so essentially we will be reading on average 2 chapters per day. I suggest day  1 you take it slowly and read the chapter over a couple of times to lay a foundation. Let the Holy Spirit give you revelation of Jesus’ life and how He came to give you the Light and connection with God as a child of God. The next 9 days we will increase the reading.

Day1: John 1

Day 2: John 2-3

Day 3: John 4-5

DaY 4:John 6-7

DAY 5: John 8-9

Day 6: John 10-12

Day 7:John 13-15

Day 8: John 16-18

Day 9: John 19 – 20

Day 10: John 21

For best results it is important that you rise between 4am-7am PST to spend quality time in the scriptures and prayer in the key areas (Life, Love, Legacy, and Lane, in addition to the daily prayer focus. This Gives PRIORITY to God and His interests. (Matthew 6:33)
