Galatians 6: 1-5 (The Message)

“Live creatively, friends. If someone falls into sin, forgivingly restore him, saving your critical comments for yourself. You might be needing forgiveness before the day’s out. Stoop down and reach out to those who are oppressed. Share their burdens, and so complete Christ’s law. If you think you are too good for that, you are badly deceived.

Make a careful exploration of who you are and the work you have been given, and then sink yourself into that. Don’t be impressed with yourself. Don’t compare yourself with others. Each of you must take responsibility for doing the creative best you can with your own life.”

In my devotional today, I was reading Romans 8. After careful study of the life lived by the flesh, and the life led by the Spirit I was compelled to go and cross reference Galatians 5:19-22, for further solidification. 

As I was travelling there in my bible, my eyes fell on this passage in my NASB + Message Parallel Bible. I had underlined and starred some important “hitters” that impacted me the most. 

As I read on, I was compelled to write this blog, because the times that we live in call for many of the instructions that we see in these 5 verses. If this blog is for no one but me, so be it.

The first thing that sticks out to me is “LIVE CREATIVELY, FRIENDS!”

We have the ability to live according to the creative mind that God has given us  to build, imagine, and create a better life on the Earth for  those who we love, and those who we serve.

 

I love  what Myles Munroe  Said about planning, “God gave you a brain and an imagination for you to participate  in creation!”

 

We have the ability to live creatively, serve creatively, and love creatively.

 

This creation has to be submitted to The leading of The Holy Spirit. 

When Adam and Eve sinned, they “creatively” sewed fig leaves together to cover themselves. This was a phenomenon because the question is posed , “who taught them how to sew?” 

 

There were no Home Ec. Classes (remember those?). There were no seminars on it. There was no one who led them through the process of sewing, however innately, through the creativity that they inherited by The Creator God, YHWH, they were able to tap into a creativity that was utilized to only serve their own needs and “cover up” a sin. 

 

This type of creativity isn’t sustainable as we see God clothing them in tunics of skin to ensure they were covered. 

 

I submit to you that the creativity that we produce, must be founded in God’s approval, and according to God’s will. Otherwise we will find ourselves living out non sustainable creativity that does more harm than good.

 

The writer also says we don’t need to look down on others for  their sin, because the same sin they commit may be the one we need to ask for forgiveness for as well.

 

It is imperative that you and I stop the judgement, and increase the love and  restoration. 

 

God never throws people away. (Read that again)

 

He never allows us to just wallow in our sin, without sending conviction or someone who will be lovingly able to show us the way of our error. I desire to be the one who lovingly restores people back to life. Restoring their hope in a brighter future. Giving them confidence in the new man or woman they could be as they submit their life to God, follow Jesus, and are led by the Spirit of God.

 

We are never pigeon holed into living a life only dictated by the flesh and impossibilities. We are the ones who live by faith, trust in God, empowered by The Holy Spirit, and overwhelmingly overcome in every aspect of life, and being a point of restoration and reconciliation of people!!

 

So live creatively friends! Allow The Spirit of God to enlighten your mind as to how you can be a beacon of light for many!
