This is the beginning of a new year, or rather, a “new season”. We closed out 2021 with the confident declaration of God’s promised restoration of His covenanted People. It signals a “New Beginning” with the radical intervention of His “Ekklesaic” people into the civic and national life of nations. It is like a mother in the pangs of childbirth, declaring 2022 THE YEAR OF KINGDOM MANIFESTATION.

This month begins with the creation of God’s World, patterned after Heaven. Then man is created in the “image and likeness” of God with the capacity and responsibility to govern the world, maintain it and protect it. This mandate is given against the awareness that the archangel of God, Lucifer, had rebelled and was cast out of Heaven. He along with his fallen angels became sworn enemies of God determined to destroy God’s creation, and identifying with leaders and all mankind, as “the god of this world”.

In this battle for the Kingdom on earth, Satan begins by deceiving the couple into choosing to eat of “the tree of the knowledge of good and evil”. In this way they could establish themselves as their own God, able to determine in their own mind what is right and wrong and rule the earth without God.

The rest of the month exposes the impact of sin, upon the couple and on nature, sibling rivalry, societal conflicts through fleshly lusts, violence and murders, and ultimately peoples building their own cultures in self-glorification. But I am amazed that in each instance God still shows mercy, and initiates new beginnings, why? To restore His original intent of establishing His Kingdom in the earth through man.

This devotional exercise is for self-assessment, self-effacement, self-affirmation, self-determination and Kingdom application.
