Men and women who changed the fortunes of their people and the history of their nation will be featured this month. They stand as encouraging examples in the “Hall of Faith” of how we too could qualify for God’s “Well done” commendation in a time to come.
At the helm is Abram who became the “Father of Nations” because he was faithful in raising his family, and in his ready response to God. Moses was raised in Pharaoh’s Court but abandoned it in favor of covenanting with God to deliver his people from the oppression of Egypt.
Deborah sat as a Judge in the “Gates” of the city, and while men were oblivious and apathetic toward the threat of external enemies she rose up and summoned them to action. She and woman Jael saved the nation. The intriguing story of Esther is a challenge to women today as to the extent to which a woman may use her feminine charm on men in authority to deliver her people.
Equally so men must be inspired by the passion and determination of Nehemiah, a cupbearer to the King within the diaspora. He became the Governor rebuilding the walls of his city back home.
This meditational exercise is for your own personal self-assessment, self-effacement, self-affirmation, self-determination, and Kingdom application. As you meditate on the Word, seek to apply it personally and practically to your daily life and to your vocational pursuits and ministerial witness.
